Presenter - Julie Cuthbert

Julie Cuthbert

With the expansion of the company, and to keep up with demand, Julie joined the company four years ago following over twenty years experience in the classroom. She sought a way to keep making a difference in education, but also to foster her love of the written word.

Julie is a regular magazine columnist, a former scriptwriter, a professional award-winning performer, and has worked on television, radio, and in Arts Centres and schools around the country, on top of her extensive teaching capacities across all curriculum areas, and in all types of schools. Her background ensures a Professional Development session that is informative, funny and inspiring. Why? Because she is so passionate about the Seven Steps to Writing Success! What Julie loves most is the opportunity to deliver influential, progressive and exciting ideas to our clients so that they can go to show all students they are capable and worthy writers across the genres.

She knows her stuff! Julie is in constant contact with new and old clients to help monitor the in-house development and implementation of the Seven Steps and is delighted that her leap from the classroom to the PD podium has given her both the professional and personal satisfaction that she is indeed continuing to make a difference in education.

Witty, full of energy and professional literacy experience, Julie Cuthbert will bring your day to life with her exuberance and down-to-earth warmth. She's guaranteed to get you thinking, laughing, and motivated to get the program up and running in your classroom the very next day.

Teaching Experience in the Classroom

All levels, all subject areas, two states of Australia, from the lowest of socio-economic areas to top private and Catholic schools, and three years of teaching in a three teacher school (handling four grade levels in the one room).

Julie has a passion for the kids who are 'different' and hard to engage in mainstream classes. She has multiple experiences also as a specialist giving her the ability to reach all of your staff at their level.

Author/Journalist

Julie co-wrote a childrens' entertainment show with a partner which included song-writing and CD production, scripting, marketing to the highest levels, and performing to audiences in State theatres and shopping centres. This spring-boarded into Julie creating her own solo show and children's stories with a huge following amongst the Victorian State Library system, the Kinder Parents Association, and VAPAC. She was also seconded into Book Reading sessions with Myer Melbourne.

Julie has just completed her first novel and, when she's not hopping from state to state to deliver the message of the Seven Steps to Writing Success, is madly editing the final draft.

Julie writes as a freelance journalist for magazines and newspapers too!

Entertainment Background

An accomplished singer and actor, Julie spent nine years on the road as a musical comedy performer in straight and comedic roles. She's only five feet tall so she got away with a lot! Word of mouth lead to regular solo cabaret work and stints as a corporate function front person – and yes "the Wedding Singer" – the ultimate Mistress of Ceremonies with a quick and wicked (but subtle) sense of humour.

Julie's passion for the Seven Steps to Writing Success grows everyday and touching educators Australia-wide is something she is most proud of. Being a part of the Seven Steps team gives her the ultimate pleasure and our clients are always left marvelling at her pocket rocket energy and enthusiasm.
