We have really pushed the boat out this time and so as well as the usual theory videos with Jen McVeity, creator of the Seven Steps, there will also be a range of interviews with informative writing experts.
We have spoken to a whole range of fascinating people from documentary filmmakers to travel and food writers to get expert insights into the techniques that professional writers use to create engaging informative texts.
However, these videos would not be complete without getting some teachers and students involved to capture the essence of the Seven Steps. Thanks to Edithvale Primary School we filmed a range of Seven Steps activities in action.
It was a marathon of a day; 20 activities in 4 hours with a film crew capturing all the best moments. The 2 fabulous teachers and 40 fantastic students involved were absolute pros and we are very excited to be able to bring some of that fun and excitement into our new videos.
All Seven Steps of the Informative Writing Course!
The rest of the Steps will follow the same structure and will be released later this month so that you can start applying the Seven Steps techniques to informative writing. After months of teaching narrative and persuasive writing in preparation for NAPLAN, I’m sure you are as excited as we are about these new informative resources. It’s time to turn those dry lists of facts into original and creative informative texts that leave a lasting impression.
By the first week of Term 3, we’ll be launching a Putting it all Together module as well as a second round of insightful interviews for each Step. Stay tuned!
