Take your writing class to the next level
You’ve rolled out the Seven Steps in your classroom. Your students’ Starts are Sizzling, they’ve Tightened the Tension and they’re writing with creativity.
Now, are you ready to progress your students beyond individual Steps to writing full, rich texts?
Do your students struggle to write a whole piece?
Most do. But your students don’t have to! Show them how to connect the Steps to pull together a cohesive and engaging text — from brainstorming to planning, writing to editting, and finally to a finished piece!
You’ll learn how to deepen students’ thinking on how to approach different topics and text types.
Can your students independently improve their writing?
Discover explicit feedback strategies so your students can progress their own writing from ideas to masterpieces.
Learn the skills and gain resources to help students become confident in peer- and self-assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Day Two Workshop for?
It is a requirement that you have learned the theory and taught all Seven Steps in your classroom. This will ensure you and all participants get the most out of the day and take away a more advanced understanding of the Seven Steps. To attend Day Two, you must:
- have been trained in the Seven Steps in one or more of the following:
- in a face-to-face training – either a Workshop or a School PD
- in the theory and practice of Steps 1 to 7 by a licensed Seven Steps Coach
- via Seven Steps Online – having watched at least all the theory videos related to one text type – Narrative, Persuasive or Informative
- have rolled out all Seven Steps in your classroom.
Please note that while Day Two will very briefly mention the key theory points of each of the Seven Steps, we will not be going into depth, as it is assumed you know each of the Steps. If you think you may need a refresher of the Seven Steps theory, we welcome you to come back to a Day One Workshop or sign up to Seven Steps Online!
How long do I need to have taught the Seven Steps in my classroom?
There is no required length of time, but we recommend you have taught all Seven Steps before coming to the Day Two Workshop. We will not be reviewing each of the Steps in detail.
I’m a Seven Steps Coach. Should/Can I attend?
Day Two is designed to help classroom teachers further advance their students’ writing; it is not a leadership course. However, if you’ve already attended a Coaches Course and are interested in diving deeper into the writing process, we think you’ll find Day Two an excellent training day as it covers very different topics from the Coaches Course.
Is this a leadership course?
Day Two is not a leadership course. It is designed to help classroom teachers further advance their students’ writing.
Is this NESA accredited?
We are in the process of getting the Day Two Workshop accredited for NESA for our NSW participants. (Anyone who has attended the Day Two Workshop before it is accredited will not be able to receive accreditation retrospectively.)
What do I receive at this course?
You’ll receive a workbook with resources, activities, feedback and assessment rubrics, planning templates and writing graphs. You will also receive access to a private webpage which contains resources, links and videos that are referenced to during the day.
