We’ve been mapping the Little Lunch stories on the Seven Steps Narrative Writing Graph as a class – so proud at how fabulous our year 5 students are at identifying the elements of a narrative!

Check out this great Five Minute Fast Starts exercise from Year 5 students, posted by @happyclassroomhappylife.
With just five minutes to come up with five different ideas for each word before sharing with the class, the results of this exercise are always creative and fun!
Thanks for sharing, Miss M!

Whoosh went the wind against my face and as I pulled the trigger to eject the parachute nothing happened and I got closer to the ground I closed my eyes and heard and felt a thud and all I heard was sirens.

We used the Research Record (pre-filled with questions brainstormed by our class) and the Informative Writing Graph from Seven Steps this term. It was our first time using these tools and the planning/ordering of the three topics helped build interest and tension in our letter writing.
If you haven’t engaged with any @sevenstepswriting PD then I highly encourage you to do so. We got the idea for this HASS assessment directly from our Workshop Two PD.

The best story ideas come from a long slow process of thinking, reading, researching, pondering, experimenting, drafting, editing and lots and lots of re-working and re-writing.

BANG!! The loud sound of bombs and people screaming deafened the population in a 10 kilometre radious of the battle.
‘Stop it now!!’ screamed one of the brothers.
‘Never!!!’ screamed the other.
It had started off as two innocuous identical twins fighting, but as they grew older more tension grew and the stronger they got the more the threat to the world one of them became. Cyrus had grown up destroying everything and always fighting his brother, Otis. Otis had always grown up trying to stop his brother from destroying things and his brother had always hated him for it.

‘Am I in 2018 or in the 1850s?’ Sovereign Hill is the place to go if you want to take a step back in time to find out what it was like in the 1850s. The costume school is a definite crowd pleaser. It is when you dress up and experience what life was like for the unfortunate and fortunate kids at school.
As well as the costume school, be sure to check out ‘Blood on the Southern Cross’ as you witness the very moment the Eureka Stockade took place! Sovereign Hill is a great place to take your family and is filled with fun, adventure and lots and lots of GOLD!

Sizzling Starts – start your narrative with a bang!

This week was all about the National Simultaneous Storytime #nss2019 We absolutely loved reading and unpacking Alpacas with Maracas using the @sevenstepswriting story graph template, followed by our @teachstarter funky alpacas!!

No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.

I hesitated, not knowing what to do. Then, as if I was meaning to do it all along, I laid one finger on the immaculate handle. A tingling sensation crept up my finger and into my body. I felt nonchalant and jubilant. But most of all, I felt CAPABLE. And just for that moment, the sun pushed through the rain clouds and shone its brilliant, blinding light.
‘Fiona, you don’t need this bike. You are capable of doing it yourself. Just believe,’ I told myself. I marched back to the school, ready for Melissa. I confronted her bravely, just like the sun slicing through the gloomy rain clouds. The pearly white bike glistened cheekily. Its job here was done.

This book is a MUST-READ for everyone! Hogwarts school is a magical place where everyone wants to go! From the fabulous food to the magical creatures, Hogwarts is a wonderful place. So put down that BORING NOVEL and read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

Picture this you’re looking in Blackwood Primary School’s school uniform shope and all you can see is a tsunami of expensive prices and your parents’ facial expressions make you feel like they’re about to collapse into a million shattered pieces. All you want to do is help them but you can’t because you need a school uniform.

Are there any discounts if I buy Teacher Hub with training or a Tool Kit?
Yes. Bundle a Teacher Hub School Subscription with a Seven Steps Tool Kit and save at least 20% (over 40% if you’ve recently attended training!). Check out the Tool Kits here.
In addition, if you book a spot in Workshop One (Online), you’ll also receive a 3-month subscription to Teacher Hub.
How is Teacher Hub different from the Seven Steps Tool Kit?
While Teacher Hub contains everything you and your school needs to unlock the power of the Seven Steps, the Tool Kits and Manuals offer another option for teachers who prefer things in hard copy.
One of the most important things when implementing change in a school is to make it simple for each and every teacher. The printed resources offer a way for those who prefer to quickly find resources, activities or lessons from a hard copy book. However, these resources are specifically designed to supplement Seven Steps training or Teacher Hub theory videos rather than providing development for teachers.
We’re also dedicated to continuing to provide valuable content to our members. As we continue to try, test and discover what resources teachers like, we will continue to develop more and more of those resources for Seven Steps Teacher Hub.
