Seven Steps to Writing Success is committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all students in the schools we work with. While most of our staff and contractors work with schools, teachers and online programs, some may occasionally have direct contact with students. All personnel are required to follow our Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment Policies at all times to ensure a safe, professional and supportive learning environment.

Safeguarding Policy

Scope

This policy applies to all Seven Steps staff, contractors and representatives when delivering programs, workshops or online services in schools.

Our Responsibilities

  • Act in accordance with all relevant child protection and safeguarding laws in the country of delivery.

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

  • Report any concerns about a child’s welfare or safety immediately to the appropriate school contact and, where required, relevant authorities.

  • Complete safeguarding training as appropriate to role and jurisdiction.

Safer Recruitment Policy

Purpose

Seven Steps is committed to recruiting professional, trustworthy staff and contractors who uphold the integrity and safety of our programs.

Recruitment Principles

  • Roles involving occasional child contact require reference checks, verification of qualifications and, where applicable, background or police checks.

  • Job descriptions clearly outline safeguarding responsibilities and professional expectations.

  • Recruitment decisions are based on merit and suitability for the role.

Interview and Selection

  • Interviews explore professional conduct, safeguarding understanding and alignment with Seven Steps’ values.

  • Recruitment decisions take into account suitability to uphold safeguarding and professional expectations.

Onboarding and Induction

  • New personnel receive induction on safeguarding responsibilities, professional standards and expectations.

  • Ongoing training is provided according to role and jurisdiction.

Monitoring and Review

  • Recruitment and onboarding practices are regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with international best practice.
