Melbourne and Canberra Workshops postponed

As of 11:59 pm Thursday 27 May, Victoria has been placed in a 7-day lockdown (finishing at 11:59 pm on Thursday 3 June).

Unfortunately, this means due to Victoria’s lockdown restrictions to public gatherings and travel for our Melbourne based presenters, we will have to postpone the following scheduled workshops:

Workshop One

  • Friday 28 May in Canberra (Mercure Canberra)
  • Friday 28 May in Melbourne (RACV City Club)
  • Monday 31 May in Melbourne (RACV City Club)

We apologise to those participants who are booked in – we will be in contact with you ASAP if we haven’t been already. We hope you can make it to your rescheduled workshops (to be confirmed).

Newcastle and Brisbane Workshops postponed

As of Saturday 13 February, Victoria has been placed in a 5-day lockdown (finishing at 11:59pm on Wednesday 17 February).

Unfortunately, this means we will have to postpone the following scheduled Workshops as the presenters who were going to be delivering the training are based in Melbourne:

  • Workshop One in:
    • Newcastle on 16 February
    • Brisbane on 23 February
  • Workshop Two in:
    • Brisbane on 25 February.

But we’re not giving up! We are going to try our hardest to reschedule these Workshops to later in Term 1.

We apologise to those participants who are booked in – we will be in contact with you ASAP. We hope you can make it to the later sessions (once they are rescheduled). If you don’t want to wait, we welcome you to join in on our Online Workshops. You can find more information here:

Please note that at this stage, we are not aware of any other Workshops that will be cancelled. If that changes, we will notify you directly if you are a participant.

Update for Term 1 2021

We are excited to say that we have scheduled several face-to-face Workshops around Australia in Term 1, and they are filling! We truly hope to see you there, and we will be working with the venues to ensure that all COVID-safe practises are followed.

If any COVID outbreak occurs that prevents our presenters from being able to travel to a particular Workshop location, we will do our best to give as much notice as possible to participants before cancelling the Workshop.

Our Online Workshops will continue to run throughout 2021, so are always a great option for anyone who cannot make it to one of our face-to-face locations, or prefer to break up their professional development into three convenient sessions.

Feel free to contact our office if you have any questions on 03 9521 8439.

Online Workshops

Thank you for your time and patience while you wait for our Workshops to be back up and running. Unfortunately with restrictions still in place in certain parts of the country, we’re not sure exactly when our Workshops will be back up and running (see below).

Our brand-new live and interactive Workshop (Online): Seven Steps to Transform Writing is the perfect way to learn the Seven Steps!

Just like our much-loved face-to-face Workshops, our live Online Workshops are fun, interactive and full of activities! And if you’ve been looking for a convenient way to learn from the comfort of your own home then this is for you! And the feedback is excellent:

“I have noticed my students engagement and enjoyment in writing skyrocket. They are thinking outside the box and the rich, descriptive work they are producing his simply mind-blowing. Thank you to the Seven Steps Team for your engaging, informative, creative and interactive PD.”

Term 3 Workshops and beyond

Based on the current restriction levels and expectations for when they’ll lift, unfortunately we will not be holding public face-to-face Workshops in Term 3.

However, we’re hoping to be back on the road in Term 4. We will continue to monitor recommendations from the government and keep you updated.

We can’t wait to see you, so know that we’re doing all we can to get back up and running.

Term 1 Update for Workshops

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel all remaining Seven Steps Workshops for the rest of Term 1. The situation surrounding COVID-19/Coronavirus is evolving daily and we feel now is the time to act to ensure that we are doing our utmost to help protect the health and safety of our teachers, presenters and the wider Australian community.

While there have been no cases of COVID-19 from our training attendees or staff, it’s important that our communities remain as safe as possible. We are therefore being proactive and following the recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other health professionals. We will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure we’re following the latest advice from WHO, the Department of Health and other relevant regulatory bodies.

We apologise to those who have booked in, but want you to know that we will reschedule all cancelled events as soon as things have settled down.

We’re so excited to help you get started transforming student writing, but first and foremost, let’s look after our health and our community!

I’ve already booked a Workshop in Term 1
As of 17 March, we have cancelled all eight remaining Seven Steps Workshops. We apologise to the eager teachers and educators who were looking forward to attending – we were excited to see you too! As soon as things settle down, we will reschedule and will be back in touch to lock in the new date with you.

Lou, our Office Administrator ([email protected]), has already emailed you with your options:
1) Hold onto your spot for when it’s rescheduled later this year
2) Ask for a refund – you want to rebook later in the year.

I’ve booked a School Workshop for Term 1, or I want to!
If you have already booked a School Workshop, our Events Manager Jade Waters ([email protected]) will have already contacted you to confirm your booking and/or to reschedule.

That means we are not taking any bookings for Term 1, but we will pencil in dates for future terms!

Please don’t hesitate to contact Jade on 03 9521 8439 if you would like to book in a School Workshop for after Term 1 this year. She would love to help and can help you pick a date.
